Foreshadowing
This is an example of foreshadowing in movies and stories. In this scene from The Village, the blind girl falls in a hole by an odd shaped fallen tree which foreshadows the events of how she escapes from the monster guy.

If the girl is blind, why did she walk over and look down into the hole?
